| Resumo | In this work, two techniques of angular interpolation for the discrete-ordinates method in radiation transport, namely the source-function integration technique and a technique based on the inclusion of dummy nodes in the quadrature scheme, are studied. It is shown that these techniques are equivalent (i.e., they yield the same results) in plane geometry. In addition, numerical studies carried out for two model problems in atmospheric radiative transfer are used to show that the technique based on inclusion of dummy nodes can be implemented in a way that makes it more economical than the source-function integration technique. | |||
